The PetroGIS is an under constant development. Users are strongly recommended to update PetroGIS to the newest version available. Feel free to report bugs and submit comments and feature requests. We are determined to improve the PetroGIS, thus we are open to all suggestions from our users.


PetroGIS 1.6 (2013-08-16)

  • Improved tool: Import SSDM Tracklines:
    • better integration with SSDM standard,
    • changed field type for FIRST_SEIS_PT_ID and LAST_SEIS_PT_ID to Long Int,
    • changed field type for SURVEY_ID to Long Int,
    • added option for calculating Lat/Lon values for FIRST/LAST SP.
  • General improvement:
    • improved handling of Personal and File Geodatabase Feature Dataset workspaces.

PetroGIS 1.5 (2012-12-07)

  • Improved tool: Export UKOOA p1-90:
    • Improved handling large output P190 files.

    • Changed textbox styles (in some Windows settings textboxes appeared as black).

PetroGIS 1.4 (2012-05-18)

  • New tool: Import SEG Y:
    • Geometry into point feature class.
    • Import geometry from Source / Receiver / CDP X and Y coordinates.
    • Choose byte order (Little / Big endian).
  • Improved tool: Export UKOOA P1-90:
    • Improved header generation.
    • Fixed bug in generating decimals for integer values (missing “0”).
  • Improved tool: Batch Import UKOOA P190:
    • Different types of output: points, lines, SSDM Tracklines.
    • Creating Z/M-aware points / lines.
    • Using File Name as Line Name.
    • Sorting the data (enables differentiating sensors for off-shore data)

PetroGIS 1.3 (2012-02-01)

  • Improved tool: Import UKOOA P1-90:
    • Improved performance for large UKOOA files.
    • Added support for Receiver Group Records (“R”) – 3D off-shore surveys.
    • Added checkboxes to select / filter types of records to be imported.
  • Improved tool: Export UKOOA P1-90:
    • Improved performance for large UKOOA files.
    • Added support for Receiver Group Records (“R”) – 3D off-shore surveys.
    • Added option for setting the decimal precision of the output point number.
  • Improved tool: Import SEG-P1:
    • Improved performance for large SEG-P1 files.
    • Added support for multiple headers in one SEG-P1 file (all header records need to start with “H”).
    • Added option to read Easting / Northing coordinates with a custom decimal precision (specify the number of digits from the right that will be regarded as decimals).
  • Improved tool: Import XPS:
    • Output format changed for PointNum field. It is now parsed and stored as Double, not String, just as in other import tools.
  • New tool: Batch Import UKOOA P1-90:
    • Import multiple UKOOA P1-90 files.
    • In PetroGIS ver. 1.3. all input files are assumed to be UKOOA P1-90, regardless file extension. In the future releases Batch Import tool will support other formats, such as SEG-P1 or SPS.
    • Note: the tool will overwrite existing files!
  • General improvements:
    • Improved error handling, especially for import tools and input data that is not 100% compatible with specific standards.

PetroGIS 1.2 (2011-12-17)

  • New tool added: Create Bin Grid.
    • It creates a grid of polygons with parameters based on the UKOOA standard for bin grids (it supports custom increment numbering for I and J coords as well as grid bearing).
  • New tool added: Design Offsets.
    • Used for preplanning 2D or 3D land seismic surveys. This tool can move theoretic source / receiver points perpendicularly and project them on custom offset lines (i.e. bypassing obstacles etc.).
  • New tool added: Measure Angles.
    • Simple yet effective way of measuring and storing angles in ArcMap (snapping enabled).
